The Arizona Open Campaign affirms the identity rights of all adopted citizens. Arizona Open therefore advocates for the repeal of Arizona statutes that deny adult citizens, who were adopted as minors, unrestricted access to state-held documents recording their births and adoptions.
Arizona Open asserts that it is the right of people everywhere to have their own official original birth record unaltered and free from falsification and that the legally-recognized family status of any such person should not prohibit them from exercising such a right. We reject mutual consent registries in the absence of unrestricted access to official original birth records, mandated intermediary systems and other laws, policies and practices that endeavor to restrain, restrict or limit the right of adult adoptees to access their state-held records of identity. |
